there are a few events worth mentioning that you should probably try to attend if you can…
Friday, July 18th
Philharmonic in the Park – Central Park, Great Lawn – click here for details – 8pm, but go earlier!
This annual event (also held this past tuesday) is one of those activities in the city that allows you to feel like you live in the suburbs for just a moment. Bring a blanket, wine, food, the homies, or a date & enjoy the tunes of the NY Philharmonic on a lovely evening in NYC under the stars (fireworks finale!)
Saturday, July 19th
Harlem Children’s Zone Rooftop Young Professional Benefit 2:30-5, Harlem
A number of great people I know are involved in hosting this special event. It’ll be an afternoon of wine & mingling with people who are about making a difference in Harlem. Minimum donation of $65, but it’s totally for a good cause. to purchase tickets visit hcz.org/events or call 212-360-3255
“Carpe Diem” @ Chinatown Brasserie (lafayette/great jones) hosted by 3 Kings & MIHicon
This is one of those parties where two separate powerhouses in the young black world collide & throw and insane party. RSVP now, so if you’re twiddling thumbs, it’s worth leaving the house for, as always, go early to avoid lines & such…Don’t go too hard though, you’ll need to feel great on Sunday (next event for why…)
Sunday, July 20th
The MIHicon BBQ – Prospect Park, 1-pm – until…
Literally my fave event in all of NYC. Go to the early service at church & get to BK even if you swear by not venturing out on the weekend local subway. This is like Habana Outpost opening weekend on steroids. Kind of like a NY homecoming tailgate…all boroughs collide for this event, i’m looking forward to it in a major way. Ladies go with your girls, guys bring out your A -team. Weather reports are looking like 80 and sunny!
