  1. I’m going to have to be “that girl” but I just don’t buy it from Rihanna.

    As a side, let me say, that I don’t think it is necessarily her responsibility to be the “I am the empowered battered woman” for the young women of today.

    I think the entire situation was handled very poorly and that she has not only done herself a disservice but the very audience she’s addressing with her lip-service women’s rights way after fact. I was hoping she’d use her soapbox to address the situation specifically, fill in missing gaps and holes rather than use vague, scripted statements and introduce contestable “facts.” And then to turn this into something that it wasn’t, a whole “anti – battery” campaign (don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I am NOT for something of this nature, I just didn’t think this was the venue for something like that) to me, just felt very contrived.
